Nowadays commercial ceiling fans are designed with extremely quiet motors to ensure that they operate optimally. They are much more cost effective and can be found in sizes that range from commercial to huge industrial. The forerunner to these fans are the domestic ceiling fans which were used in homes and offices to get the most out of space and because they don’t have electrical cords that will be lying around. Due to the fact that larger areas require ventilation the fans were changed by giving them a larger motor which was the advent of the commercial or industrial fan.

Now commercial fans are different than those fans used in offices and homes. Their traits are based on three things: operation, power and performance. They have more powerful but fewer blades which are larger and curved and have airflow patterns built in. There are even models that have 60in blades for optimal performance. Since they are capable of ventilating large commercial areas they are often called commercial fans.

They are operated a wall control and can used for both cooling and heating. To be used for heating, they are connected to a heating system in order to disperse hot air where you need it. If high ventilation is required, these fans can give small windowless areas correct cooling ventilation. But these fans are not recommended for home use due to their large size. They also have a more than 10ft high ceiling height requirement. Although they usually have metal blades you can find models with plastic blades. Plastic blades can still be dangerous if installed on low ceilings.
